NEET PG 2021 exam has been postponed due to a spike in corona cases across the country. As per the official notification, NEET PG 2021 will not be conducted before August 31, 2021. The decision was undertaken to boost the availability of medical personnel to tackle covid cases. NEET PG 2021 candidates would get at least one month’s time for the exam preparation, the official sources said. Revised NEET PG 2021 dates would be announced after reviewing the situation.
NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post-Graduation), is conducted for providing admissions to various MD (Doctor of Medicine)/ MS (Master of Surgery) and PG Diploma courses across the country. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts the exam once a year in computer-based mode. The scores are also used for taking admissions into postgraduate MBBS DNB courses. The exam is conducted for 10,821 MS seats, 19,953 MD seats, and 1,979 PG Diploma seats offered by various medical colleges in India. As per the data, around 1,74,886 candidates have registered for NEET PG 2021 exam which will be held at 255 test centres across the country.
NEET PG syllabus 2021 comprises three sections, Pre-clinical, Para-clinical, and clinical. Candidates must note that there has been certain changes in NEET PG 2021 exam including application fee, exam timing, total number of questions and marks. As per NEET PG 2021 pattern, the test paper will have 200 multiple-choice questions and candidates will get 3.5 hours to answer them. NEET PG 2021 result will be released in PDF format on the official website of NBE.
NEET PG 2021 cut off, the minimum qualifying percentile, will also be released along with the result. Candidates will have to secure the minimum qualifying percentile to become eligible for getting admission into MD / MS / PG Diploma programmes. The minimum qualifying percentile is 50, 45 & 40 for GN, GN-PWD & SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories respectively. The official NEET PG answer key 2021 will not be released due to the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). On the basis of the result, NBE will release NEET PG 2021 merit list, mentioning All India Rank for 50% All India Quota candidates. On the basis of the ranks in the merit list, candidates will be invited to participate in NEET PG 2021 counselling. MCC will conduct NEET PG 2021 counselling for 50% AIQ, Deemed/Central Universities, ESIC/AFMS institutes. Respective state counselling authority will hold the counselling session for the rest of the 50% seats. In an official notification on February 23, 2021, NBE came out with a NEET PG 2021 brochure. It also announced NEET PG 2021 registration dates and other key details. candidates were given the deadline of March 15, 2021, to fill NEET PG 2021 application form. - Instead of monetary benefits, NEET PG aspirants and nursing students could be given an incentive in the form of grace marks, the supreme court suggested to the Centre. The top court recommended that incentive in form of grace marks could be helpful in convincing a total of 1.5 lakh NEET PG aspirants and 2.5 lakh trained nurses for covid duty.
- NBE has increased the application cum entrance exam fee to Rs 5,015 (including GST) for general candidates. Candidates who belong to SC/ST and PwD categories will have to pay Rs 3,835 (including GST). Last year, the number of exam centres were 165 and for the 2021 session, there will be 255 centres across India. NBE has also reduced the total number of questions to 200 from 300. The entrance exam will now be conducted from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
- As far as the exam pattern is concerned, there will be no change in the exam pattern this year. The exam will be conducted online and candidates will get 3.5 hours to complete the test paper. The exam will be conducted in English language only. There will be 200 questions with 800 marks in total. All the questions will be based on the syllabus taught during the MBBS course.
- NEET PG 2021 exam has been postponed for at least four months, the government announced on May 3, 2021. The decision has been taken to ramp up human resources in the healthcare sector to deal with the corona situation. As COVID-19 cases are on the rise, the health sector needs enough healthcare professionals to provide medical care to patients.
- NEET PG 2021 will have only four tie-breaking criteria instead of eight. For this session, factors such as more number of correct responses, less number of negative responses, older candidate and higher aggregate marks (in percentage) will be taken into consideration.
- There are several institutes in India that hold the stature of the Institute of National Importance which includes the institutes such as AIIMS, PGIMER, SGPGIMS, Lucknow, JIPMER, NIMHANS, and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology. These institutes don’t accept NEET PG 2021 scores for admission into PG courses. A new entrance test named INI CET has replaced NEET PG for admissions to the above-mentioned medical colleges.

NEET PG 2021 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates who wish to apply for the exam or who wish to participate in the counselling process must check the eligibility criteria before applying for it. NEET PG eligibility criteria have been summarised below: Aspirants must possess an MBBS degree/provisional Pass Certificate which is recognised as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 They should also possess a permanent/ provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council They must have completed the duration of their internship on or before June 30, 2021 Aspirants found ineligible at any stage will not be permitted to take the exam or appear for counselling (as applicable) The result or candidature of ineligible candidates will be cancelled
NEET PG 2021: FIVE MAJOR CHANGES
On February 23, 2021, NBE released the information brochure for the national level entrance exam. The brochure contains vital information regarding the exam and its processes. There are five significant changes mentioned in the brochure candidates should know: Hike in the application fee: From 2021, NBE has increased the application cum entrance exam fee from Rs. 3,750 to Rs 5,015 (including GST) for general candidates. Candidates belonging to SC/ST and PwD categories now have to pay Rs 3,835 (including GST) instead of Rs 2,750. Addition 90 new exam centres: NBE has added 90 new NEET PG 2021 exam centres at which the exam will be conducted. Last year, the number of exam centres were 165 and for 2021 session there will be 255 centres across India. Reduction in the number of questions and total marks obtained: There is a change in the exam pattern as well. NBE has announced to reduce the total number of questions to 200 from 300. Hence, candidates will have 100 questions less in the question paper as compared to the previous year. As the number of questions is reduced the total marks will also be reduced. The question paper will now be of 800 marks reduced by 400 marks as compared to last year’s question paper. Last year the total marks were 1200. Changes in the exam timings: The entrance exam will now be conducted from 2 pm to 5:30 pm. Earlier, the exam used to be conducted from 3:30 pm to 7 pm. Deduction in the number of tie-breaking rules: The NBE has made a significant reduction in tie-breaking rules as well. Earlier the number of factors to break a tie was eight and for this session, there are only four factors. For the 2021 session factors such as more number of correct responses, less number of negative responses, older candidate and higher aggregate marks (in percentage) will be taken into consideration. Interested candidates then register themselves on the official website of NBE. After completing the registration process, candidates have to fill the NEET PG application form. Those who submit the applications on time and also fulfil the eligibility requirement of the course will be issued the admit card. Candidates will have to appear for the examination with the admit card. NBE usually announces the result within a fortnight. Candidates who qualify for the examination become eligible for admissions through this PG level entrance exam for admission to master level programs in medicine and will be able to register themselves for the counselling process on the website of MCC. The application process starts after candidates register themselves on the official website of NBE. Candidates can then log in using their registration ID and password to fill the application form. To complete the application process, candidates will have to upload scanned copies of photographs and signatures. They will also have to pay a non-refundable application fee to complete the NEET PG 2021 application process.

NEET PG 2021 RESULT
The result will be uploaded online. The NEET PG 2021 result will be released in PDF format. Candidates who will clear the examination can download their scorecard/rank card by logging into their registered account on the official website of NBE. The result will be presented in the form of a merit list and the merit list will be prepared on the basis of candidates’ performance in the entrance exam. Candidates are advised to save the copy of the result in hardcopy for reference purposes during the counselling process. The result will have the roll number, candidate’s name, section-wise score, and the qualifying status.
NEET PG 2021 MERIT LIST
After the successful conclusion of the exam, the result will be announced. After that NEET PG 2021 merit list will be released. The candidates have to visit the official website of NBE, nbe.edu.in to check their results. A merit list will be prepared by the NBE. On the basis of the merit list, the seat allotment process will be done. The higher the position in the merit list better the college candidate will be allotted. NBE will prepare a separate merit list on the basis of various criteria. NEET PG 2021 COUNSELLING
Admissions to the MD/MS/DNB course will be finalised on the basis of the counselling. The body responsible for conducting NEET 2021 counselling is the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The process of NEET PG 2021 counselling has been summarised below: Online Registration for Counselling Aspirants are required to register themselves on the official website of MCC and fill the application form to participate in the NEET PG 2021 counselling. The registration process for the first round will begin after the announcement of the results. One must also note that only those candidates who have registered themselves on the official website of MCC will be able to participate in the NEET 2021 counselling.
